Review:
A movie about robots is not rare among Japanese movies. If you are an Anime movie fan you would have seen plenty of movies with robots. This 'Robo-G' was a brilliantly written and directed movie. There was no compromise in movie quality. Why I am saying that mean it was not the movie that highly depended on computer graphics, in fact I saw none CGI works in the movie. Most importantly it is not even a science fiction but related to that theme.

The owner of the Kimura electrical appliance is keen to participate in upcoming Robo-expo. Three of his employees are busy creating a humanoid but there is insufficient time to finish it. One week to go, they decide to put a man inside a robot costume and finish the event smoothly. Then the 70 year-old Suzuki comes across who was disappointed for his unrecognition by his friend from the recently concluded cultural program. So he decides to join them three and everything ends as planned. But the real problem arises when an enthusiastic college student shows interest to doing project on the national sensation robot called new Shiokaze.

The movie fulfilled my expectations. I found it a kinda part of a fresh idea. When I read about the movie I was not sure that it will work but after a watch I came to know that I was wrong before. Wherever it has came from, Hollywood, Bollywood, Eurowood, K-movies or J-movies, it will be a treat for movie fanatics like me. I love robot themes, I consider it is one of my most expected from sci-fi themes. This movie brought plenty of laughs in me. I felt that it was quite a lengthy movie though the pace was steady and holds the audience without much unwanted scenes. The end twist was good, it was a good solution that what I had curiosity about all the way. And an another scene in the end which leaves a sign that indicates sequel is in due. I will be happy if they make another 'Robo-G' movie.

BESERK: The Golden Age Arc 3 - Descent (2013) Japan

Review:

The third installment of 'Berserk: The Golden Age Arc' movie series which was based on the manga series. As expected the movie didn't disappoint me but still first two are the epic compared to it. Yes first two were war genre, fully gore, awesome movies and this third one was slightly turned out fantasy-horror. After where it ended in second part I thought the revenge will commence in its follow-up story but it surprised me and took us on the different path.

This story follows after a year since Guts and Griffith parted. Some of the escaped Hawk bands prepare for the rescue mission in the Casca's stand-in command to bring back their leader. Soon, Guts join them, the rescue team becomes much stronger. Not wasting much time the mission commence and what comes next is the unexpected twist and theme transformation. The dark world unleashes, without a mercy it assault the heroes and leaves the unforgettable scars. The best part of all these three movies were the way the movie ended. It leaves something broad open which makes us to guess what will happen next like a mind twister.

Yeah I know most of the people like Guts and it is my favourite character as well. In this part The Griffith character was weakened but we knew it coming. As he was a mysterious character from the very first movie especially with his 'golden egg' I knew there must be some story behind it. This movie did not explain that portions very well, maybe we can expect that in the next part, I hope so. And Casca was as usual supported very well.

The sex scenes were stronger like in 'The Battle for Doldrey', so the movie is not suitable for everyone. Those who like sword-war theme and Anime especially gore will enjoy it. If you have not seen first two, begin with those, you will love this trilogy for sure. Now I am eagerly waiting for its fourth. Highly recommended for adults.

Quill: The Life of a Guide Dog (2004) Japan

Quill was trained to disobey his master and that's for his own good.

Review:

A Japanese drama based on a true life story of a guide dog called Quill, a Labrador. Since dog won't tell a tale the whole story was told from a boy's perspective who was appearing on the screen for a very few minutes. It was just a formality to make the story reality. This boy meets Quill somewhere midway of the dog's life and disappear forever. But in Quill's case it begins with his birth till his death so he's the hero of this movie and no one else.

A cute Labrador born with a dark mark in his side abdomen, a few weeks later the owner pick him to train as a guide dog. So the first partition to the puppy, he was sent to a couple's house to keep him till he becomes a young adult. So then the second partition which slightly hurts inside our heart. Then he becomes the one of a best guide dog and soon after he becomes someone's, a blind man's eye, a guide dog like he was trained. The rest of the story tells how he devotes his work and himself to his master.

There's no other better way to teach our kids about life than giving a puppy as a gift. They will learn how to take care an another soul, playing with them, fighting with them, chasing with them and all the above separation, facing the death of someone you love the most. I said this because I had one too and I learnt many stuffs in life how to face it. So this movie is what intent to show us. Transforming from a cute puppy to an adult, faithful guide dog in a decade makes us to feel of seen a man's whole life as a dog.

This story was not intended to break the viewer's heart. So there's no strong animal and man bonding in this story like other dog movies had. They wanted to show us what's really happening in the real world and how a dog faces his hurdles throughout his life journey including the people he meet. But remember what I am saying, you won't control yourself, the more you try to hide your tears the more you will wet your eyes. Especially during last 20-15 minutes it was emotional, if you ever had a dog you will know the situation very well. It was the best dog movie (only by few margin) compared to those I mentioned below in 'similar movies' section because those movies tells the tales of the dog and their relationship with the humans and mostly from a man's perspective. Those were entertainer masterpieces but this one was more like a some documentary movie. A must watch movie, I guess kids would love to see Quill.

Just said wow after a watch, this was the true masterpiece. One of a must see biography movie from Japan. This movie is more than entertainment, about life, faith, honesty. It sets in time 12th century when Japan is obsessed with the evil power by the strong and powerful samurais where poor people pays for it when they are suffering from poverty.

It was the story of Dogen Zenji, a Japanese monk who brought the true Buddhism to his country. You might remember the Indian monk Bodhidharma, father of Shaolin who passed Hindu herbal medicine system and martial arts to China. In this case it was like similar quest by an another person from the Japan. The movie tells a young man from Japan travel to China in order to find and learn the true Buddhism and take back to his country to spread it among his people.

The movie was inspiring, Dogen Zenji is one of a great man lived on the earth. I am not a religious type but I liked this movie very much. This movie might be about Buddhism but there is a lot everyone to learn from it. You no need to travel to India to discover yourself, this life story of Zen master Dogen will teach something good. Some scenes and its meanings were so good especially when Dogen handles his ruler (king) and when he sends a mother of a dying baby to everyone's house in the village. Hope you will love it as much I did.
